[Gool.com] Reporter Han Man-sung = The International Football Federation (FIFA) will finalize the plan to increase the number of participating countries from 32 to 48 countries from the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

FIFA has already agreed to participate in 48 countries in the 2026 World Cup finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States. However, there is a possibility that FIFA will introduce the 48 team tournament method from the Qatar World Cup in 2022. In fact, FIFA discussed how 48 teams would participate in the Qatar World Cup at the Council meeting in Miami, Florida, USA, on 14-15.

The British public broadcaster BBC reported that FIFA plans to announce the final decision on whether to enter the Qatar World Cup 48 teams at the congress in Paris on June 5th.
